It’s day 26 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days!

We made it! Almost…

The 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge isn’t new. Leslie Saeta of Artists Helping Artists has been hosting them for the last few years. I, like many other artists, have participated in this challenge before. Some of you might remember last September I tried doing a different art experiment every day. I only made it to day 19. My friend Marisabel Jolie made it to day 24. I was a little jealous she made it farther than me! This year I’m excited to say we’ve both made it to day 26. Marisabel paints some really luscious watercolors. She’s been experimenting with food patterns and interesting abstract but realistic paintings this month. If you have a chance you should check out her artwork at

I have a feeling we are both going to make it to day 30 this year!!!!

The paintings I create during the 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge will be included in my NATURE CURATED series which captures the essence of place by encapsulating carefully chosen mementos nature has seemingly left behind in a thick bed of pigmented encaustic wax. To create these paintings I explore the ocean shore and forest floor to find the perfect, unique objects (shells, pine cones, driftwood and stones) to embed in a luscious layer of wax. All of these natural objects tells the story of its origin, like the smooth edges on driftwood illustrates the journey it took undulating back and forth against the rough ocean shore. Each three-dimensional fine art painting is unique, signed by me, ready to hang and includes the place of origin.
