Well hello day 2 of 30 Paintings in 30 Days, you showed up rather quickly! The painting today was definitely inspired by the Oregon coast but I think it was also inspired a little bit by the “Rock the Wedding” episode of Project Runway last week. No spoilers because I’m not that kind of girl but lemon yellow, like my painting, played a big role in the episode. I guess by now you’ve discovered I’m a huge Project Runway fan.
Anyway, this painting is like taking a sip of refreshing lemonade while the sun is blanketing your skin and you are walking through hot ocean stones when surprise! You notice some of the stones are pieces of driftwood hiding amongst the beach pebbles.

I keep mentioning the Oregon Coast and Yachats. Not only is it a gorgeous place but the energy in the ocean there has an excitement that makes my heart skip a beat. Here is a photo so you can at least see what I’ve been talking about:
The NATURE CURATED series captures the essence of place by encapsulating carefully chosen mementos nature has seemingly left behind in a thick bed of pigmented encaustic wax. To create these paintings the artist explores the ocean shore and forest floor to find the perfect, unique objects (shells, pine cones, driftwood and stones) to embed in a luscious layer of wax. All of these natural objects tells the story of its origin, like the smooth edges on driftwood illustrates the journey it took undulating back and forth against the rough ocean shore. Each three-dimensional fine art painting is unique, signed by the artist, ready to hang and includes the place of origin.
We missed you in Yachats this summer!
we missed you too! We want to head that way in a few weeks to try some mushroom hunting. Thank you for introducing us to such a beautiful place!
